Custom-Designed Vision Options

Amazing advancements in technology now allow patients to achieve the vision they desire without dependence on glasses after cataract surgery. By combining the most advanced lenses for distance and near vision or astigmatism correction with laser cataract surgery and ORA Precision Vision technology, patients are regaining the vision they had in their 20s. It is truly an exciting time for cataract patients who want to customize their vision.

Custom LenSx® Laser Cataract Surgery

The LenSx Laser ensures the most gentle, accurate, exact incisions. With the LenSx Laser, our surgeons can precisely program the size, shape and location of the incision and lens capsule for each patient. In non-laser cataract surgery, the surgeon relies on handheld surgical instruments to make incisions and remove the old lens. The LenSx Laser also softens the lens to reduce the amount of energy and fluid needed to remove the cataract, resulting in faster visual recovery. The LenSx Laser corrects astigmatism so patients will see as clearly as possible for distance vision without relying on glasses. Coupled with ORA Precision Vision, cataract patients are achieving unprecedented visual outcomes. Click here to learn more about our LenSx Laser technology.

ORA Precision Vision

This advanced technology enables our surgeons to get the most accurate measurements for precise lens power and placement to achieve optimal vision results. For those with astigmatism, ORA Precision Vision improves accuracy of correction, thus reducing the need for glasses after surgery.

Multifocal Lens

The multifocal lens is designed to give patients the best distance and near vision with less dependence on glasses after surgery. Previously, single focus lenses – which require glasses after surgery – were the only option. With the multifocal lens, most patients are enjoying the freedom to read, use their cell phone or iPad, play golf and drive without the need for glasses. For those with low astigmatism, the ORA Precision Vision and Laser Arcuate Incisions or Limbal Relaxing Incisions now make it possible for patients to receive the multifocal lens unless other eye health conditions exist.

Toric Lens (Astigmatism)

For patients with moderate to high astigmatism, the Toric lens delivers clear distance vision with less dependence on prescription glasses. Near and intermediate vision will still require glasses. The Toric lens combined with ORA Precision Vision offers patients the best astigmatism correction available.

Single-Focus Lens (Basic)

The basic single-focus lens is effective in clearing vision. After surgery, patients will likely need glasses full-time, especially for reading and intermediate vision.

Laser Arcuate Incisions (LAI) or Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRI)

LAIs and LRIs are used to help decrease astigmatism for patients who would like to see as clearly as possible with the single focus lens for distance activities, such as driving and watching TV, without relying on glasses. Patients should expect to use reading glasses for tasks that fall within their near and intermediate vision ranges. LAIs and LRIs are also used with the multifocal lens to achieve the best possible distance and near vision.
