What are Implantable Contact Lenses?
Implantable contact lenses, otherwise known as ICLs, are the most recent advancement in vision correction. This outpatient procedure offers you the opportunity to have exceptional vision without the need for wearing glasses or replacing your contact lenses. These lenses are invisible and require no maintenance, unlike regular contact lenses. They also offer you another option to correcting nearsightedness if you do not qualify for LASIK surgery.

How do they work?
This 15 to 30 minute outpatient procedure corrects nearsightedness from a completely different perspective. Unlike traditional contact lenses that are placed on the surface of the eye, implantable contact lenses are surgically placed inside the eye between the iris and the natural lens. It does not replace your eye’s natural lens, rather it works with it to improve your vision. Since this procedure does not change the structure of your eye, it can be surgically removed if necessary. As with many eye surgeries, you will need someone to drive you home after the procedure.
