Dr. Maria Scott is the Medical Director for Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center and TLC Laser Eye Center in Annapolis, Maryland. She practices the latest techniques in cataract and refractive surgery. Considered one of the area's finest and most skilled surgeons, Dr. Scott was the first surgeon in Annapolis to treat patients with the laser vision correction procedure (laser eye surgery). She was also the first surgeon to bring no needle, no stitch cataract surgery to this area. Additionally, she is one of a few surgeons in the area who offers NearVision CK (Conductive Keratoplasty) to reduce or eliminate the need for reading glasses.

A graduate of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, Dr. Scott completed her ophthalmology residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC. She received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA.

In addition to more than ten years in private practice in the Washington Metropolitan area, Dr. Scott served as a Clinical Instructor at Washington National Eye Center and Washington Hospital Center for five years and is currently an attending surgeon at both Washington Hospital Center and Anne Arundel Medical Center. Dr. Scott currently trains and supervises other ophthalmologists in laser vision correction. In a peer vote taken by What’s Up Annapolis magazine, Dr. Scott was chosen tas the Top Ophthalmologist for 2005 & 2007. Recently, Dr. Scott was also listed in Washingtonian magazine as one of twelve top LASIK surgeons in the area and was named a VISX Star Surgeon, an honor received by the top five percent of laser vision correction surgeons with the highest surgical volume in the United States.

A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Scott is a member of numerous professional societies, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the Anne Arundel County Medical Society and Executive Committee, Washington Hospital Center, and Women in Ophthalmology.
