Restylane® is clear gel containing hyaluronic acid, which is naturally found in our skin. As we age, this acid’s distribution and function changes resulting in facial lines and a decreased volume in the fullness of the face. Restylane® may be injected into different areas of the face to increase volume, soften lines and give you a more youthful appearance. Some of the common areas that are treated include lips, marionette lines at the ends of the mouth, smoker’s lines around the mouth, acne, and nasolabial folds, which are the lines from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth.
This treatment takes approximately 30 minutes and results are usually seen immediately. Since the hyaluronic acid in Restylane® is not extracted from animals, there is minimal risk of allergic reactions. Additionally, since this is not a permanent treatment, you and Dr. Zwick can decide how to create the look you want as your skin continues to age.
